The BANTAM ORPINGTON Thread

We have the Orpington thread, the English Orpington thread, the Lavender Orpington thread so I figured I would see what is out there in the way of Bantam Orpingtons. big_smile I hear a few people talk about them but really don't see many pictures or discussions on them. I would love to hear from fellow bantam orp peeps. I really enjoy mine and actually prefer them to LF orps even though I do own both. Here are a couple of pictures of my black and splash. Have the incubator going with some blues and blacks due on the 14th, looking for some nice stock to show next year. smile I hope more will join in on this thread!

There are too many breeds and varieties in the world to have them all... but its too hard just to choose a few.

Currently breeding Bantam Orpingtons, Anconas, White Faced Black Spanish, and RC Rhode Island Reds.  Also have Buff, Blue Swedish and Runner ducks along with Chinese Geese.

Very nice OSUman!  I hope to add some buffs down the road. Right now I just have blacks and the one splash rooster. So I put one of black hens with the splash to create some blues and am creating more blacks from my black pen as well.  Have a few projects too! wink

Im thinking about getting some of all of the different colors of bantam orps.  I really like the ones that I currently have.

I think down the road I would like to too, expect here in NC we have a pretty red dirt clay, not sure how good it will look on whites. tongue I have some nice stock but my goal is to make some improvements and show them next year. I have yet to see any shown here.

Yea i have white leghorn bantams and I have decided not to let them outside in the mud because they got all dirty on their back from the rooster. I keep them on shavings which works fine as long as they cant get to any dirt underneath the shavings LOL.  Where did you get yours from?

I have blues and blacks.  Only black boys so no hope of splash chicks.  One of my boys has won BB several times.  A blue pullet of mine won RB this year.  After the first of the year, I will join the UOC as I show both bantam and LF.  Hopefully, I will be able to really add to my #'s next year.  They are clearly my favorite!
