i live like 6 minunits from there..so i go alot..i like that they have everything i need but i had to go down the street(mikes) to get my chicks because they didnt have any when i went...one time i sent the ladt to get my hen scratch and they gave her some other stuff that was more costly..but the regular scratch is really cheap and they will carry it out for you! (try the mexican restaurant on the corner)

Also, midway down the Peninsula is Portola Valley Feed on Alpine Road. Very pretty area (grew up there) and they have horse feed, hay and other bird supplies too. They carry the organic scratch and the organic pellets, which I think is the Modesto Mills brand. They also have large bags of Layena.

I have been to:
Farmers Feed & Supply

  • 10015 Monterey Rd, Gilroy, CA 95020Cross Streets: Near the intersection of Monterey Rd and Buena Vista Av

They have natural feed (Swanson brand), crumble, layer's mix for $15.00 a bag for 50 lb. sacks. They also breed their own birds. When the chicks are available (Americauna, Polish, etc.), the parents are shown above them. I found it a clean place. The hispanic worker is a little taciturn, but the other employees were very helpful.

Hey everyone.

This place is the best price, quality and convinience deal that I would find!

Let me know if anyone found something better, but for SF standards, this is not bad!
The prices they list are for August 2011 so I would guess they have gone up since then. Really makes me glad I live in West Texas where prices are a little more realistic.

PS - for those prices I will buy it here and ship it to you and keep the change for my fee.
