How many hens for one rooster?

The rule of thumb is 10, but it really depends on the roo. I'd give it a try and see how things go in the knowledge that if your girls are showing signs of being overbred, you may want to either get more girls, or keep in separate (and put girls to him, for breeding).

Ok thanks our new coop will have enough room for 14 birds but I don't think my mom is going to let me get that many.

Currently we have one rooster & one hen, and last two days it seems she REALLY doesn't wanna....mmhmm tho she does give in eventually. Is he "over working" his girl? We plan on having more (they free range ALL day) but because having chickens here is new we started out small until we r sure it would work out.
You should have a minimum of 10-12 hens to a rooster or they will over mate and stress out the hen and pull out feathers.

Ok so I have 6 hens in a 64sq ft run all the time I want to get a roo would that be to much or could I get maybe a bantam roo. Please answer I really would like a roo
That is not enough hens to one rooster. The rooster will over mate and stress out 6 birds. They could get de feathered and be cold in the winter.
