David, Going back to the cottontail, could this be improved by breeding darker undercolor Male wheatens. Al  of the wheaten I have seen here in the USA the males have had this cotton tail. Thanks for joining in on this thread. Don

Don,

We are seldom as great in the eye of others as we are in our own mind.. Look at the photo section at the album and see pictures of my setup. Plan on adding a few pictures shortly.

Hackle feathers on all the wheaten males I have seen have a small black stripe similiar to the BC. I have in the past used a magnifying light on the pictures on the French site and they also have this thin black stripe also. Any comments on this or anything else related to the wheaten. Don

I cant understand why is there any controversies about this white fluffy ball?

Is RJF a Wheten?  Or not?

They're duckwing based. (BBR) So, no.

Yes, he has just about every fault you could name on a wheaten Marans male. Don

Thank you when I saw my post I said oh the wing cinnamon is too big.   but the basically colors are there, so is not logical to have white fluff or simply not even this applies?

snowbird I would like to have my Whetens look like this can it happen without mutting them?

I guess anything is possible but it would take a lot of culling and spending a lot of money to accomplish. This Jungle fowl probably only weighs #3 at mosts, why not go with the Pene lots of Marans are already crossed with them. Don

thank you Don and Illia I'm sorry to go on a hi-jack.  maybe 5 or 6 pounds will be okay for the roosty I just want to make it look like a speedy and wild 'Marans JF' but I dont want to mutt it.  the Pendeneseca egg is not as great.

ok now I'm happy...a wheaten thread!! woohoo

I'm a novice, beginner, student and wanna be amazing wheaten breeder.  It was recommended to me to start my flock with The Fitzgerald line, Beth and Dave only ship 8s and 9s and from the last hatch it looks like 2 males 2 females but only 2 weeks old now.

I have 6 + viable eggs that went into lockdown yesterday...

I really need to learn so I hope that the people on this thread are willing to help.  Many threads that are breed specific turn into nasty exchanges.  I have alot to learn, I'm doing alot of research on how to breed, what to look for and I welcome all mentoring! smile

Let's go wheaties!! I'm in Northern CA and I don't know anyone here that is breeding them.

Picture from last week
