and I don't think you're ever gonna get the cotton tail out of wheaten until they're born black like black copper . instead of yellow or white lol

gig.gif Don't need to. I have Pip, the wannabe Wheaten! At 21 months, he now has two cinnamon wing feathers, one on each wing, just the bottoms of the outter primaries.  What the heck is up with that?? He always did look more Wheaten than BCM, but as a chick he was downed like a dark BCM.

That may or may not be true. Pip has now gotten in some grey looking coverts in the tail break that he has never had before! I am sure he is a cross of a BCM and Wheaten, but as far as coloring goes, he favors the Wheaten. Even down to the whiteish grey legs, and horn colored beak.

Thanks for the help!

Actually, I found out it's not Burgundy, it's "Mahogany"

I saw the comment on this page, scroll about two thirds of the way down and it's the last picture in the Wheatens category right before the colombian.

Specifically, it says "Two Wheaten pullets, the one in the foreground showing the unwanted presence of Mahogany."

However, form what you guys say, it's too early to worry just yet.  I'm excited that we're still on the right track.  I plan on continuing to post his weekly progress,  so maybe we'll see what happens.

On another note, I had some time to work on his coop today:

Randy, the cottontail is just another fault. The only way to eliminate a fault is not keep breeding for it, I took the chain saw and cut a nice 3' section of log and even bought a new ax to help with the problem

Don,

We are seldom as great in the eye of others as we are in our own mind.. Look at the photo section at the album and see pictures of my setup. Plan on adding a few pictures shortly.

She? is also bigger than her brooder mates. One is a Blue Copper roo who is one day older, and the other is a day younger Black Copper ? pullet, I believe. The Wheaten is so funny when she goes to move about; she doesn't walk, she zips! lau.gif
