The American Paint Silkie

Pics
My breeding Dutch paints to white and/or black Americans was to add new blood to my paints. Done at the suggestion of Sigrid vonDart. My paints come directly from the Netherlands and are from countless generations of paint to paint matings. Those few american/dutch crosses (a one time cross) will be mated to my paints, I don't plan to do this continously, just wanted this touch of new blood. Currently averaging 60% paint offspring from my paint to paint matings. I'm no genetics expert, but my take/opinion on this is, if you continously mate paint to black you dilute the paint gene and your percentage of paint chicks will decrease.

I hope this picture shows up... I posted on another page and got no responses and I'd really like to hear comments from the BYC. I have this girl listed on bidbirdauctions.com only because I have not decided to work on paints, but this girl came from my eggs. I would love to see someone working on them get her, but if not, I'll play with the color some. She is SO cute. Sigrid, do you post here? Hope everyone is great!

She sure it pretty Bobbi!

What color breeding did she come out of? Is the boy you have listed her hatch mate from the same breeding?

I got 2 paint chicks & 2 black chicks carrying Paint last weekend!

Can they be bred to my whites? I should know if my white cockerel is dominant or recessive this weekend. The ideal situation would be if the chicks turn out to ba a quad, but I'm not going to count on that happening!

Hey Lady! There is a mixture of White, Lavender and Splash genes in the coop they came from... I have gotten 6 so far. I just love Silkie surprises

I'm hoping for the same surprise. I just put 4 eggs into lockdown from my white cockerel over blue & black hens. I have 3 more batches of them set, so we'll see! Should I add a splash girl to the mix?

I have no idea, but it worked for me... I am not separating the ones that are producing them because I don't know who the girl is?...yet... but the boy is kinda Paint looking already.
