My three indian runners live on their big pond!  The only time they come out of it is to dig for bugs in the mud slide below our garden.  Every since they were babies they've used their kiddie pool so much I had to change it every day.  Runner's are much more skittish and cautious around people, but if you raise them from a few days old and take care of them and be nice to them, they will like you enough to at least eat out of your hand more.  Our two cats like to watch the ducks, and they never attack or chase them.  Runners are a good way to go, because they not only are funny looking but they lay very well.

These are some of my ducks, the middle one which is stretching awkwardly is a mallard indian runner (i think) and the grouped four are blue indian runners which i love because their dorky espically the mallard one xD and to the left at the base of the tree are 2 mallards which where in their plumage change. They are quite the characters. bun.gif

My little feathery, webbed feet, water proof, billed babies are everything to me.

Either post pics here or PM me  pictures and I will help you. I am  an APA/ABA judge. I have been showing runners since 1974.

Please may I join this thread?

Got two indian runner ducklings yesterday for an Easter gift.

T&T Edit.JPG

I'm guessing they will be white?

The top one is (allegedly) 2wks old and the bottom one, 3 wks old.

Walt - your ducks are astonishingly beautiful!!

I've never considered going into the "show" route ... maybe that is something I will consider for the future smile.png
