Help Rooster won't shut-up !!!!!

Please help me before my husband gets rid of my rooster. He's 6 months old and he crows 20 hours out of 24 and I'm not kidding. ALL day he crows. But the worse part is that he starts at 4am. It don't bother us as much as were worried about the neighbors. We keep on waiting for the police to pull up. Do they out grow it? He's a buff orpington with 5 hens. He has a big coop and we turn him out in the evenings for them to roam, I'm thinking he's crowing to be out all the time. Please help.
 
He is young and just getting the hang of things, he should out grow it, I know mine did!
Now what tdo you mean by you let them out in the evenings?? Are they in the coop the rest of the time?? Or are they in a run?? Do you let them free range in the evenimgs?? sorry I am just confused?

I'm sorry to confuse you. Guess I'm confussed about all this myself. Around 7 at night we let them out of the coop for around a hour and a half to free range and they go back themselves at dark. So I thought maybe he crows all day telling us let me out. LOL

But thanks for your advice and I'll keep my fingers crossed that Boss will out grow it.
 
So they are inside that coop all day?? that could be the problem, chickens need to be outside more that just a couple of hours. otherwise they will go nuts! why are they in tha coop all day? could you make a run for them so they can be out more?
 
The coop is huge, 12' x 12' and only 6 in it. The've got lots of room to roam. Dirt floor to scratch. We do let them out to free range everyday but only for a few hrs, you don't think that's enough?

Oh, the poor birds! Being "cooped" up all day! They need to go out and play! I've also read that if they don't go out, they need vitamin supplements. One of the chickenss I got from a farmer cuz she was eating her eggs, when she did happen to lay them was in such bad shape! She was also cooped up all day. What a difference now that she can free range....so much happier, and healthier. And by the way, she never did eat any of her eggs since I got her. Please let her out to play!!

Wow, your group sounds just like mine.

I have a BO Roo and he has 5 hens.

Mine free range in my back yard all day long, and put themselves up at night.

Billy is probably about a year to year and a half old.

He crows at 6:30 a.m., 10:15 a.m., 2:45 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and right at sunset for about 10 mins each time.

He also crows right before storms move in, so he's my "roo barometer" hehe.

I think yours is just frustrated and wants to roam...as they say "the grass is always greener on the other side".

Canarygirl I really think it just depends on the rooster. Mine has total free range all day and then he roosts in our barn so he can go and come as he pleases 24 hours a day and he crows all day long right at dusk and starts at 4:00am......He is around two years old and very healthy and has done it since he was a yer old.....Now my little silkie roo he only will crow a few times early in the morning...good luck
 
Mine crows all the time too. No set schedule for him. That would be great. He gets free range unless it is a very cold winter. So it does not matter to him. I think he just likes to listen to himself sing.
