how do you like your cornish from meyers ive gotton layers from them and was not happy at all

This is my first batch of CX's.  I originally bought 15.  One was DOA and they gave me a credit.  The next morning one more died and by the end of the day 2 more died.  After the first 48 hrs I have had no problem.  I chalked the deaths to the length of travel.  They were hatched on a Tuesday and I did not receive them till Friday due to being out in the middle of BFE.

I have raised mine in accordance to the sticky note at the top of the page in the Meat Birds section of this blog and am excited about harvesting them next week.  I anticipate that they will be between 6 and 7 pounds live weight. 

After the holidays I plan on doing about 100 CX's a month from here on out.  I'll be buying my CX's from a hatchery closer to me but plan on buying their Fry Pan Special of 100 cockerals for $.27 apiece and have some DP meat.  Good project for my 3 boys.

An understanding wife, 3 boys, New Hampshire Red Hen's , Black Australorp's Hens, Black Star Roo, Golden Comet Hen's, Polish Roo, Golden Penciled Hamburg Roo, Old English Bantam's, Brown Leghorn's, Buff Orpington's, Barred Rock's, Delaware's, Easter Egger Hen, 100+ Rabbit's 1 fat cat.

ya i wish i had a hatchery closer that sells cornish rocks like our hatchery that sells only hyline layers that i can get for 85 cents a peice and roosters for .10 cents a peice

If you are going to let the Cornish Cross grow for several extra months, take your roasting pan out every couple of days and hold it up next to the chickens. Be sure to butcher before they won't fit into the pan any more.

actuly im just looking for a hatchery to order chicks from in the winter welp is about the cheapiest i found and they ship them year around  need get goats sold i can get some chicks then find somone to butcher them

got this chick I think may be a CIMG_0536.JPGornish, or crossed with one.  Need help, this is at one week old already lots bigger than the Dominiques. 

I have a mixed flock of 14: (2 are roosters)  1  Barred Rock, 2 Black sex-link, 2 lt Brahma, 1 buff Chantecler, 4 Rh Island Red, and 4 pure Canadian white Chantecler.  Addition:  April 2013 Midget White turkeys!!!  5 of them left to raise.     One broody raising 9 little mixes.
