I put a gamecam looking at the "salted" stump. I didn't know fox would use it too.

I would say that you have had smaller rodents working the stump, that the game camera hasn't picked up.

 

My camera won't pick up field mice and song birds because of it sensitivity at a  distance.

 

Which I am glad of.

450Here are pics from my cam last night. 

 The fox showed up first, and he is ok as long as he stays in the back pasture and away from the chicken coop!  Then the coyote showed up and was scared off by something that didn't show up.
