We love our Nankin hen. She's very sweet and good natured, excellent bird for beginners or kids. She comes when called, she's an excellent bug hunter, likes to sit on your lap (or head, or...
I have 6 Barnies, they did start laying at about 28 weeks, but that is not an issue with me. Most of my poultry did. They don't lay the really dark eggs, but they are large, dark brown and some...
Leghorns are great egg laying chickens. They are friendly to other Leghorns and can easily fly. The only problems is that they are bad in the pecking order and they can make a mess of the yard....
I will start by saying that I love Australorps. In fact, my very favorite hen is an Australorp. She is such a sweet chicken and just let's you walk right up to her to pick her up. She doesn't run...
I posted this over in another thread, but I am really enjoying seeing all these pictures! I just bought the game camera a few days ago to try to find out what's taking my chickens, and this was taken about 11 p.m. the first night. I have been away from home a few days and I can't wait to see what else I will have in the camera. I reoriented it so that the flash may get a better shot at critters looking into the chicken yard, but this one sure looks like a fox.
New chicks 2/13/2013: 2 Buff Orps, 2 Black Australorps, 4 Easter Eggers, 2 New Hampshire Reds, 2 Silver Gray Dorkings, 2 Blue Splash Marans
New chicks 3/11 2009: 2 Buff Orp hens, 2 Jersey Black Giant hens, 4 Barred Rock hens
New chicks 3/7/2011! 4 RIRs, 2 Barred Rocks, 2 Black Sex Links
Given the position of the animal in question, I would say he is leaving -- not taking -- a "Poo"
I will always try to "play nice" but sometimes people don't find my sense of humor very funny. My favorite Rooster is the John Wayne version of Cogburn

Can you put the camera outside of the fence? I hang mine ON the fence a lot of times using a piece of wire to secure it in place (and a cable for real security). Because the fence will catch a lot of the flash and overexpose the foreground of your picture while leaving the animal in the dark.
