oldrooster, as I said, I did decide to get MtHealthy's special of 200 cockerels for $50 and then sold majority of them a week later at the flea market section of the auction barn and sold them for $1 each or $10 a dozen and made enough money back to cover what I spent on the entire order including the pullets I bought for myself.

Hatching eggs are no longer avaiable from any breeds until further notice due to predator problems and birds being too old .

rareroo how did you present these chicks as meat birds or sex unknown buy at your own risk type of deals? I don't know how I wish to sell them either as you did a few days weeks old or wait until maturity and sell them off at a higher price. part of it is I need to figure feed costs for 200 chicks for 3-4months....

I did Cackle's Fry-pan special once. It was great. I only ordered 25, and I had also ordered 25 sexed pullets. They sent me 26 sexed pullets and 36 Fry-pan roosters in Red Sex-link, Barred Rock, Production Red and Buff Orpington, Oh, and one California White male - I had ordered CW hens, I think that's why they threw him in for me. Very nice of them, I thought.  All beautiful, healthy birds.

The RSLs dressed out the best if you're looking for fryers.

Can you keep us updated on how they grow, how they dress out, etc?  I've been considering one of these deals for some time.

So the chicks are 10 weeks old now, the Delewares are actually White Leghorns and Golden Comets. All 26 made it so far. Butchered 5 of them, each weighing between 2-3 lbs dressed weight. Ate 1 so far, nice and tender and they taste great! You have to like dark meat though because it is mostly dark meat, barely any breast meat, a lot of leg and thigh meat. ( Don't know the cost per bird).
