Yes they are very friendly! I can pick them up with no problem.

Farmers Branch didn't change the ordinance to allow backyard chickens.  sad.png sad.png

00Pepper  I'm sorry to hear that. What reason did they give? maybe you can get just a couple and have them considered "pets" I've heard many get around the rules like that.

Wife and  Mom to 2 young men (17 &22), 4 dogs, 2 indoor cats, 2 feral cats, 1 rabbit, 1 parrot, 4 ferrets, 1 betta fish and now 3 hens and 4 pullets    we LOVE our lil zoo

Got a tad bit of rain last night! So thankful!! However, annoyed as last evening I had just put a layer of DE and Alfalfa hay down in the waterfowl pen...this a.m. it was all soaked and compacted into the ground. *sigh* What does everyone have in their runs to help keep them dryer? Also, what does everyone use to worm their chooks/poultry?

I've only used Wazine in the water but that's only good for roundworms. I never saw any worms in their poop so not sure if they needed it or not. I've done some research on BYC and it sounds like Valbazen is the way to go. It's given orally and will kill all kinds of worms, not just roundworms. I have some ready but feel I should wait until my chickens aren't so stressed by the extreme heat.

Hey everyone!! I've decided to sell one of my does and one of her bucks - if you are interested check the "for sale" page.  She's a nice goat, I'm just wanting to get into the cheese business and she is just not producing the amount I'd like. She's make a great pet and she's an excellent mom if someone just wanted babies.

The Chunky Dunk, "we don't skinny dip, we chunky dunk!"
Proud mother of 10 yr old daughter, 6 year old son, a mixed flock but showing BCMs, 5 Nubian goats, 3 dogs, and 2 cats, all living together peacefully (yeah, right ) on a hopefully one day self-sufficient 15 acres.

I sent Melissa some turkey eggs a while back.. never did find out if they hatched or not. But if they did she should have some heritage turkeys laying next year

It's just started to sprinkle here.. I hope it at least rains enough to soak the ground a bit

To answer your question.. we have hoop coops.. so no need to worry about wet runs except for the ducklings.. in there we have mulch by the water pans

we never had a need to worm our birds so can't help ya there any
