Pretty animals.... I've never seen one of those up close and personal before... will you be keeping a boar?  how many sows do you plan to keep?

Keeper of 18 hens,  3 PW Leghorns, 1 leghorn mix, 1 FBCMarans, 1 Australorp, 2 Olive Eggers , 1 EE, a Barred Rock, a RIR, a CQ, 1 Delaware,, a Splash Ameraucana,  3 polish, a Welsummer and 25 juvies of various breeds(6 Heritage Delawares, 1 SLW, 1Blue NN, 5 FBCMs, 2 Ameraucanas, 2 Olive Eggers, and 8 Alohas.) YIKES!  Time to SELL some chickens!

They are no different than any other breed of pigs as far as character is concerned. Your interaction with them determines if they are tame or wild.

Before spending a bunch on breeding stock I would make sure you have a market for them.  I always feel bad for the kids at the fairs when they are showing a breed that the judges know nothing about - they usually don't do very well.  As far as meat goes, pork is pork - it's all in how you raise them.  Hope everything works out!
