Chick with cross beak *pics*

. What can I do to help this little chick?

Sadly - nothing. I had a cross beak. She puffed herself up pretending she was eating and one day it became too much. I walked into the brooder and she was so tiny and sick. I held her in my arms until she died. Then I buried her next to the coop and her sisters.

Sadly i would have to agree, i had a few with this crossed beak and none of them survived, one was really bad, and struggled eating but others were eating and drinking, i think just not enough to sustain it wee body, i had a few of these every hatch for a while, had one really old hen and once she was removed from the breeding stock the problem has not arrised again. we tried lots of things with our babies but nothing worked in the end they all died. sorry i don't have happier news,
how ever there are folk whos chickities have survived fine with this, and are part of the flock, they just learnt to live and adapt, be aware though a chick born with this, it usuallly gets more extream as they grow.
i do wish you and your chick good luck though x

This is my EE

Debbie Cooper, named for DB cooper. The girl likes to jump. she is 2 weeks 5 days old. this morning I noticed her beak was cooked. I spoke to my vet who said I could have her beak trimmed every six months but that's about all I can do. does anyone know if there is any way to correct Cooper's condition...maybe a brace of some kind. I know I sound naive, she is one of my first chickens and i'm super soft heated.( like I don't eat meat and feel guilty about eggs, hence the hens that way I know the chickens my eggs come from are truly happy)
Yes she's on my bed, yes she pooped, yes I changed my sheets.

I know its an old post but i saw myself in your post. Im also a former vegan...as of last week and now eat fresh eggs....but i feel so horrible about it. Im pretty sure they are not fertile but still. I treat my kids wonderful...they live in an ac shedd until the arizona heat eases up a bit. Sorry sorry to see your cross beaked kids died. Wow...its so heartbreaking to see..they did nothing to deserve this. They were so adorable. My heart breaks for them..how are you doing currently. I would love to chat with someone else who understands how I feel about animals, murdering them and eating them..which would never ever happen...and dealing with falling in love with them. I do have a ayam cemanti rooster who is a horrible and nasty chicken which I really dont like at all.
