Huge Testicles!

Thread Starter

I just realized my rooster that I butchered today had huge testicles.  about the size of two grapes added together..... EACH!!!!  He was a rir and about 6 or 7 months old.  Is this normal?  Will more aggressive roos have bigger testicles?  I wish I took a picture.

Several mixed breeds as well as purebred barred rock, rhode island red and amerucana.  I am a hobby chicken farmer and an avid gardener with a small gardening business including produce csa and restaurant supply.  Besides that, I am a Master Gardener student and a full time optician/contact lens fitter with a 1 hour commute each way.  Husband helps take care of the chickens!

That's sound about right from my experience (I butchered a few this fall). Now you understand why they're so randy all the time and looking for a fight.

Sounds normal for a healthy bird to have pullet egg sized testis. Birds all have internal testicles located in their upper back area.

I'm no expert, there is always something to learn, and my birds are livestock, so... yes, I may be quite blunt. wink.png
