Can goats get fleas? idunno  I am assuming that they can.  My next question is, what do you do about it?  I use Frontline on my dog, but don't have a clue what to do for goats! smile

I have 3 goats and I have never seen any fleas. However; I have seen lice. Dust the goats every month with garden seven dust. I haven't had any more trouble. I also dust all my chickens at the vent and underarm when I do the goats.

I wouldn't use frontline on the goats. It isn't made for all animals. smile I have been hearing about more animals dieing from misuse of Frontline.

Nope, goats don't get fleas.  Really!  If you see something like fleas, it's lice.

Oh, I wouldn't use Frontline on the goats!  I was just merrily stating the fact that I used that for the dog but was wondering what I would use for the goat!  When you are saying that you use "garden seven" for the goats and chickens, are you meaning the same "garden seven" that you buy in the lawn and garden section or is this something special to get someplace else?  I certainly don't want to poison any of my babies!  Goats and chickens alike! big_smile

If you use Seven, make SURE it's 5%, no higher.  Also, there are products marketed for delousing goats - CyLence is one I can think of off the top of my head.  Additionally, tongue (I can go on and on, sorry) if you deworm with Ivermec, that is lice prevention/treatment, too.

WOW!  I am learning so much!  I went on TS website to see what they have available and I ran across a lice/tick/fly dust that works for goats and poultry.  That sounds the best, due to the fact that it will be easier to get something that will treat both the goats and chickens!  Thank you for the input and help! smile

hey yall....just got a quick question....if you are gonna get milk from your goat, .......would you feel safe drinking it if you have put chemicals on them?............surely some of it has to absorb into their skin, I would think......not trying to rile anyone, ....I just recently got some goats and was curious about fleas on them, ..there's lots of fleas outside around here, ...hooray for the cold tho, maybe it'll knock 'em down a lil bit, :)... I was just worried about Chems gettin into my milk.   Thanks y'all

When I had my goat dairy I occasionally dusted my goats for lice with a louse powder approved for dairy animals.  Just go to the livestock supply and read the labels.
