New 8 x 12 Bantam Coop *New Additions-Post 244~ 6/2*

Thanks for the update on the PVC foamcore I think we will use it also almost finished with our 10'X5' coop and security run, next will be the larger daytime run, we have lots of hawks even a few eagles here so topcover is a must. our 5wk old cochin bantam chicks are in the coop growing out right now and I just got SS yeterday. I am just so happy to be back with chickens again I have no words to tell you about it.

Glad you have chickens again! We have just one banty Cochin, a lavender girl who is about three years old now. Shadow is a joy, but such a little diva! Post pics of your coop and run when you finish it.

We added a 3rd roost bar, a wider one (2x3) that is also much lower, about 20", in the event of older standard size hens sharing the coop with the bantams one day. Already, the biggest Orp pullet is having a hard time making it up on the top roost with the others, which were designed for the bantam flock intended to live in this coop. In a few weeks, the standard breed chicks will be leaving this coop to live in a different one, but for now, the not as agile Orp girls will be able to use this roost bar, either as a final destination or a launch pad to the higher one.

In the pen, we added roost bars and we covered part of the pen with a tarp for shade and to keep rain off the front of the building:
