Hey,

Bunnylady,  I knew I liked you!  It's my daughter's birthday today, I love having an Earth Day baby!  She gets an Earth Day tshirt every year for her birthday.  I'm a little sad, because my little girl is turning 10!!!

Hi, Blue!

It's a bit of a stunner when they get into double digits, isn't it? Kinda bittersweet; they aren't little kids any more.

Tell your daughter I said, birthday.gif

DS is 16 today. He's excited about being old enough to drive on his own, of course, but I'm a good bit less thrilled. After all, I'm the one who's been petrified in the passenger seat while he's been driving with his permit.ep.gif I'm not saying he's that bad, as new drivers go; it's that the traffic around here is that bad. Seriously, Wilmington has had the worst accident rate in the state for many years now. If you want to go anywhere from my house, you have to drive on a road that is locally notorious for the number of crashes on it. I want to get a bumper sticker made that would read, "Pray for me, I drive on Market Street"!gig.gif

And Sour, it's a gray day here, too. Unfortunately, it isn't raining. I really wish it would. April is historically a dry month around here, and this year is no exception. It's also the peak of fire season, and there have been a couple of notable wildfires in this area already this year. During the first 5 years that we owned this place, there were 6 fires either on our property or one adjacent to it. I remember calling DH one evening when he was on his way home and telling him, "as you are coming up the road to the house, it's gonna look like we're on fire again. Don't worry, it's the lot behind us." th.gif

This is the first significant rain that we have had in more than a month.  I'm not complaining.  It's way too dry here.  How about having kids who are pushing towards 50?  old.gif  Allowing my son and then my daughter to leave the house, get in a car and drive off on their own may be the hardest thing that I have ever done as a parent.

Sour, now I understand why my mom was sooo mad when I left for grad. school - I moved 4600 miles away - at the time, I was just really excited to move... to Hawaii... now I live 20 minutes away from my parents.

bluesub, as you full well know - we never stop being parents.  My independent daughter who couldn't wait to move away and ended up in Georgia moved back to NJ and now lives about an hour's drive away.  Interesting how much smarter the Princess and I have become now that our children have joined the 'ageing process'.  tongue.png

Who's the Big Cat? Me? Is it because of my butt? I bet it's because of my butt.

Happy birthday to all the Earth Day kids. I was planning on being on last night...but I was traumatized. hit.gif

You might have noticed, I'm not all there myself.

Really traumatized or just the normal psychological problems?  hide.gif
