Yes, they will fight but just until one declares his dominance.  It won't be like the fights during breeding season or like roosters.  Generally one will submit before they get all bloody.  I think they are a little smarter than chickens.

I would try to keep them seperate for a couple of weeks so that they can see each other and get used to each other before putting them together.  Usually the "home team" has the advantage when a newcomer is introduced.

ETA:  The fight may also just be that one goes after the other and the other submits without a fight; just depends on the birds.  If your ganders are younger than a year old, I would imagine this is what would happen.

Did that lady send you pictures of the flock, I haven't got mine. :(

I figured they would a little, I just didn't know how badly. Glad they don't fight like roosters or I would have a heart attack!! I have all these nice breeding cochin roos that all think they are Rocky, it is awful. And those birds are not built to fight, they exhaust very quickly due to their builds so I get very upset when they get into it with each other which thankfully isn't often and is usually my own darn fault for not tightly latching a gate!

The pens are near each other so they could see each other but not be able to reach. I know I have at least two young ganders growing up and have never seen them challenge my oldest boy. But I will keep a close eye on them if I do let them mingle but worse case I guess they can free range separately. 

Thanks for the advice! Hey, let me know if you get ahold of that lady with the geese for sale. I am going to get in touch with her and make a trip down to see what she has. I really need to get a smooth breasted goose too but all hers are curly...DH conceded that it is not that common for people to have nice geese for sale locally and he was happy that she was only 2 hours from us since my last sebbie trip was 10 hours of driving! 

She said she was going to send me some pictures last night, but did not get any.  I know it is super hot down there and maybe she has things to do.

I free range the whole flock of Americans and Sebastopols on the front pond during the off season without too many problems. They have plenty of space and oddly, it is the older females who show their arses moreso than the males. Of course they think all the now half grown goslings are their babies so I guess they are still being good adoptive moms.

I think the key is transition time and using a barrier when possible. My geese could see each other through a board fence but not fight during breeding season.

Thank you -- that was taken right before one of the afternoon heat storms that started up this month so the sky is very weird looking.

I know what you mean about the smooth breasted birds -- to me they are equally as lovely. I don't have any intentions of showing the geese so I'll just dang well keep what I like!! Some of the geese have so much personality. I just love them.

And the American Blues have such beautiful lacing on each feather, and they are totally smooth but still lovely creatures.

what company are you using?  I use the one in FL.
