Lisa, they are growing fast, can't wait to see what their feathers start coming in as.
Bloomer you have lovely greys, any photos of your buffs? I am a big fan of the color varieties.

Shellie, did any of the eggs I sent you hatch yet? I think my 3 babies will end up white, but not 100% yet. They are growing so fast! They love being outside and their parents seem to enjoy them being out with them. My daughter is just one of the flock though. They all run to her, sleep up against her, walk on her if she lays down, and even Sadie is letting her pet her now...(and also walking on her.) Sammy is the watchdog of hte yard. He stands on 1 foot like a statue with a rotating head. He's too funny to watch.

I also LOVE those gray sebbies! If I was wanting anymore geese, I'd buy those in a heartbeat! They are gorgeous!love.gif

Lisa they are both set with my first Peaches (lilac goose) egg of the year. One looks very strong, should internally pip by tonight, the other is a tad behind, will watch it for action and assist as needed.

Had to share this...

I have a few day old button quail that hatched out by his lonesome the day i sold the other goslings. He has been crying forever and last night more goslings finally hatched to keep him company. Here you can see him snuggled up on top of one of them. At other times he is trying to snuggle in-between them .photobucket-41280-1334087364419.jpg

Anyone have problems with their goslings not pipping internally? I bought some shipped eggs and had 4 out of 6 hatch!! and on their own but the ones from my geese are not as strong it seems. First baby was fully developed but never pipped and died in shell, second hatched on its own, 3rd and 5th i had to make air holes for and assist...alot! 4th egg was the same as the 1st. When i candle them the shipped eggs where much more active then mine, the 2 that died where still active on day 28 & 29 but by the next day had not pipped. one i candled and opened and was dead and one i waited another day to be sure and candled and opened and same thing. I wonder if it has to do with how i'm feeding them. They get hubbards duck and goose pellet or pennfields waterfowl breeder/grower. i also add some barley or wheat, they are not on grass right now but they do get hay or hay pellets and i try to pull up some grass here and there and give it to them until my poultry netting comes in and they can go out of their pen.

I do feel your pain. I lost 2 hatches with goslings that were very active shadowing and grew to full gosling chicks but never internally pipped. I am thinking low temperatures were the problem after calibrating with clinical mercury (old time stick in your mouth thermometers). I am so very hopeful with eggs due to hatch soon. I see shadowing. AND i have gorgeous babies from shipped eggs to Wisconsin and Maryland. I'm in Alabama!! Oh those lucky customers got a buff saddleback and 2 grey saddlebacks!!!! I have such hatching envy!

I have a new GQF genesis and I have been meticulous with cooling these next eggs. I generally use dry incubation with humidity running around 30% with no water. Thursday is 28 days.

Kim, looking forward to good hatching news from you this weekend.

Sun, only on our smallest eggs, but I am assisting them when the time comes also.

hdowden, Kim is in Alabama and has lovely breeding stock. With this breed you get what you pay for. So if you find a deal don't expect long flowing curls. If you want that picture perfect floating curls then yes you will be buying from quality stock and paing the prices that come with them. It is the same with all waterfowl and poultry though. Not all birds should be bred, and it is fine to have a pet quality bird too.

HI all, I felt like I should really come post here when I only owned seb eggs, but now I have 3 sebs (and a toulouse)

wedgoose2.jpg

Question, they are sooo active, how do I keep the silly things from flipping themselbes over?  Woke up to two upside down.  Just checked again, and righted one!  I don't want to lose any while I'm at work for 5 hours.

Why don't sheep shrink in the rain?

Why is there brail at drive up ATMs??

Why are their floatation devices instead of parachutes in my airplain seat???

If a tree falls in the woods and my husband doesn't hear it, am I still wrong????

Lisa update............. One of yours has pipped through on it's own. The other is breach, but I got it opened and nares free, it's lively and breathing well. Will have it hatched by Friday since I will be doing it by hand.

Oh and my first Peaches baby is pipping!

Yay Shellie! I want pics as soon as they are free of those shells! I'm so happy for you! (I'll tell Sammy and Sadie, but when we tell them these are their babies here, they look sideways at us, like "say what?")

Marty 1876, those look like some really dark Sebbie babies! are they dried off now and fluffy? I'd love to see pics of them too!
