there are ear holder things you can stick inside a german shepard, or dog with erect type ears needed for show, as long as they conform and are just cartalige dificient, but ears standard or cropped correctly (i was a vet assistant and ashamed i dont remember the correct termanology anymore).  also the spelling is atrocious yes, but so tired..

I've noticed that the rule book keeps expanding the longer we are married... If I love him he can have a manly dog... If I love him he can get a humungous truck... If I love him he can get a side-by-side...

its actually very common for pups to get that through even rough playing as pups, as ive seen, and had even in foster pups, and can take measures against, and nutritional suppliments sometimes to help.  beautiful dog though, even though supposedly not what some would need to be show stock pedegree material. as long as good at job put to him.  i wouldnt mind someday having a shepaerd pup, but ended up with a great rescue collie instead that needed a good home.  he has a decent one with me anyway.. lol  thoughn think he is way to good for me!

Sorry hardly an expert here, not even a full year raising ducks 

However, in that situation I would look at the drake/duck ratio. I know calls have different requirements than domestic mallard breeds. From what I've observed, the ducks(girls) will establish dominance in the same manner as mating, basically surfing on each others backs. If you are worried she is too large for your calls and might injure them I'd steer clear of that option. On the same note, if she is substantially smaller than your mixed... if you've had the ducks for 10+ years I'm sure you know your ducks fairly well.

Is there anyway you can put her in a pen next to your calls/mixed so she can have company and have a "getting to know you" period before full introduction?

Also sorry for your loss, it's always tough losing old pets.

It's all relative. You've had ducks for a year... I've seen ducks in parks... You are clearly more qualified. :)
 

Hey do any of you use diatomaceous earth (DE) instead of Sevin Dust..? Or what are your thoughts on it?

I do. I also use Sweet PDZ in my pens, which has DE in it. If you have bugs or worms it's not going to fix anything. It's supposed to prevent infestations, but I've heard that it's not worked for a lot of people. The only reason I fool with it is that it controls moisture and in the summer I have huge moisture problems in my coop because of leaky waterers and such. I've not had any bugs, yet, but I don't know if it's the DE or just plain luck.
