I will be selling off all but 1 roo and depending on how many pullets I end up with..... My chicken math was bad last year out of 29 chicks I had 7 pullets! So I just have to wait I have room for 30 to be comfy 45 elbow room only. I think I've talked my self into keeping all pullets till they start laying in the fall. So I can see who is laying what. I know I will be thinning down before winter. I am hoping keeping the extra chickens around this summer will cure the heavy tick problem this year! Greedy lil buggers I been getting at least 1 a day off me and the kids. The poor dog Frontline cant keep up. She's just a baby corgi! Who likes to stare down the chickens.

Buffy the BO with 12 chicks and Livia the corgi just wants to play.

try comfortis, as took a week to work, but the twenty dollar pill was cheaper, easier, less messy or dangerous than anything else so far on my collie.

keeping assorted bantams and standard chickens..    pigeons: "white dove release" racing homers, flying flights, flying birmingham rollers, parlor rollers, parlor tumblers, "coop tumblers", Chinease owls.

I'm looking for reasonably priced pullets if anyone has any. I got the one blue maran from TNbarnqueen and it's really lonely and too small to integrate into the flock. My chicks are too small and probably will be going to the table with the cornish broilers. May be willing to do some trading of meaties for pullets? big_smile.png I called the PO and the guy told me he'd be there by 6am and would be available to call me to come get my chicks, he said he enjoys when people get chicks he likes hearing them peep. BLRW's in the incubator: 3 pipped, 1 rolling around yet to pip, last one nothing. I'll be darned if they all end up roosters again, I'll never swear that hatcheries seem to have more roosters in their straight runs, because it's obvious it is possible to have 4 cockerels and 1 pullet in a hatch of 5!

Hannah - Married to my very patient husband (who wishes I wouldn't own so many creatures), 1 diluted calico cat, 5 mini lops (I may have babies for sale so check my website out!), 4 mini rex, 1 Cochin Roo Frederick, 2 cochin pullets (1 frizzle and 1 standard) Frizz and Frazz, 1 cochin hen, 2 black australorp hens, and 1 deleware hen Ninja.

Good luck with your hatch, may the hatching gods look favorably on your hatch.

Thanks! 4 of 5 have hatched and the last one is pipped. I went to the PO this morning and picked up my box of chirping broilers, and they were all alive! I also found my doe had given birth sometime in the night and had dug out all the shavings leaving the babies to pretty much freeze, which they did, I went in to find 6 fat frozen babies sad.png This was to be her second shot since the first litter she abandoned and were raised by a surrogate. So, I'm not sure whether or not she'll take care of a 3rd litter...

Well we now have 2 extremely spoiled mallard ducklings that hatched a day ago, they are so cute and act like they dont want you to pick them up at first but then fuss when you put them back down. Call eggs are developing in the bator and getting more of those every day.

Raising quality silkies, brahmas, old english game bantams and sebastopol geese.

Looking for sq silkies in buff and white PM me.
