@All

I think we have worked out the (hmm) problem? And I will try and keep the flock, although (stang, you were the first to ask) I'll bring the two in question for Ameraucanas and if you still want them you can still have them for that price, if not I was asked by a couple others as well. And I am bringing at least one of the EE's that I cant use that feather pattern, plus the dels, reds, and the he/she del. I apologize if I got everyones hopes up for the birds....I was not in a good place at all and just wanted to indirectly solve an issue. I hope you all can forgive me for that.

I'll move the bath in case they can't get between the deck bottom and the pan sides.

Should I have free choice grit?? which is what I thought the O. shells was for...re-read my poultry books my mistake.

yes on the grit. Oyster shell is for supplemental calcium....it does "slightly" act like grit does but breaks down to quickly to do a good job. Grit you buy specifically as grit is mainly ground granite so it stays in the gizzard without breaking down. You can also fill your dust bathing pan with river sand or rough concrete sand (the one with tiny pebbles) mine use that as grit.

Wow....I am gone 3 days and 63 posts!!

Glad to see everyone is doing good. I really look forward to seeing everyone this Saturday. I pray graduation goes quickly and they don't spend the first hour talking chicken crap. roll.png

@Stang..I think we should designate you are out official chicken identifier. D.gif

Before I plan on loading them up and taking them to Newport (having to utilize space in vehicle) I have 2 black star hens for sale. Excellent layers even through the winter months. They lay eggs that are XL - Jumbo....med brown. I am selling my laying hens I used for selling eating eggs from. But....I need space and now that I have my breeding stock I am in hopes they will pay their expenses.

I will be going Friday evening to coop my 4 chickens I am showing....My white Ameraucana, Crele Polish, SG Silkie and Silkie roo. Everyone please pray my Polish does not end up racing either thru the chicken barn or the field when they judge him. I talked to Ruth yesterday and she said they are close to 700 entries again this year. I think last spring was around 730. So...there will be a lot to look at.

I may try to bring a a cover in case the heat is really bad and we can stay out of the sun. Daphne..you are welcome to use it with me. I am going to tell everyone I am not going to look "pretty". I have had to do the creme to remove pre-cancer places on my face so at this point I look like a leper..hmm.png  But....to anyone, especially teens who love the tanning and all...bring them by and let them see what one severe sunburn can do 35 years later.

Well...back to making cages for the chickens Sat. See everyone Sat!!

If anyone is interested,I have 13 extra week old chicks. They are a barnyard mix from Dk.Brahmas,LT.Brahmas,RIR,Barred Rock,SLW and German New Hampshire hens. The rooster is a German New Hampshire. Most of the chicks are a reddish color with some light ones and one black one. If you don't mind the mix these will make great layers of brown eggs. Let me know if you are interested and I will bring them to the show in Newport this Saturday. Thanks, Charles.

Yep...I think there are half a dozen names for it. I think your good with that and the 16% feed along with the boss you are using like scratch.

I doubt very seriously they will miss the OS and your eggs will be a little easier to crack wink.png

Doing great. I think she might be up to a whole pound! Even "I" like her and Lucy, and I hate small dogs ;) Harley has grown attached as well.
