Is there a reason that these "new" hens have stopped laying? I'm seeing feathers flying around--but no bare spots. Is this the partial molt I was warned could happen when they moved?? the bumblefoot girls and the other 2 are getting yogurt, buttermilk mixture every morning this week. anyother hints or suggestions? I've had 1 egg since saturday, and 2 eggs last week, not any from the 2 black orpington's. Oh, can you eat eggs when your treating with pencillin?

Chiggerbait - I have not chose one yet, I'm trying to find the best date first and then going to go through and see if there are any free on the day we're looking at booking. I need to make sure enough people will be able to go before I book one, since it's $30 for any knoxville park pavilion.

Ok, so I was thinking Victor Ashe Park, they have a large shelter we can reserve, I have to call before sending the check and form to see availability so was hoping we could all figure out what day, sounds like 4 weekend will be best? Saturday/Sunday? What time will everyone like to meet? I prefer Saturdays but Sunday will be ok.

Either day works for me.
Saturday how about around noon (Gives time to get a few things done before heading out)
and Sunday around 2 (Gives time to get there after church)
You are bringing your WORLD FAMOUS Black Bottom Cupcakes aren't you.

Cool.
I'll fork over some dough if Joy and I can come.
The 1st weekend of June I have to take her to the Outer Banks of NC for a week.

HAHA!! I might, who knows I might bring another treat that will be sure tasty. I know my friend has asked me to bring buffalo chicken dip and black bottom cupcakes to the Lenoir City rabbit show this weekend, may only be taking some dip though. Who knows.

Bad news my broody BCM hatched out 4 of 12 then I checked on her about 2 hours ago. She started killing the new ones hatching and pecking at the fluffy ones. So I took eggs and babies away. Everyone is in a tub with a heat lamp. I have the temp up to 98 and humidity @70. One egg is piping. A beak is poking out. Not sure if it will make it. The other eggs I give a low chance. I just need to get me a incubator & brooder. Or a nice one with the bator tray on the bottom. Seeing the 2 dead babies scattered in the nest is not my idea of fun. I guess a 4 maybe 5 out of 12 hatch rate could be worse.
I let the broody out and she is just walking around the yard happy as a clam. Bad mommy! She will not get a second chance at chicks.
Hey, Library, I hatched a blue orp last week with a few leg feathers. I can't use it for breeding, so I have to find it a home. She's looking very girly and I hear they'll molt out of the leg feathers. If you're interested, I don't care to grow her out for you. She'll be a big fattie.

Anyone want me to look into the Norris Dam State Park Pavilion? I can also ask about one of the Pavilions here in town. There's a couple with playgrounds close by. One has a basketball court, too, if anyone's feeling energetic.
