Incubator R-COM 20, worth it?

Anyone have suggestions for Rcom 20? Rolling dividers? Chicken egg tray? Using universal tray, eggs move around and affects rotation. Anyone have any experience with this?

I have the R-Com Max20. Love it! Like how it is all one unit and has a soft chime if you need to add more distilled water. However; I had some of the largest chicken eggs - Bielefelder eggs. I had to check them and make sure they rotated properly because they are so large. The r-com rotates an average chicken egg 180 degrees, and with the universal tray - you have to check or manually move them slightly to make sure they are getting the full 180 degrees. I have the universal tray and was hoping someone else had the rollers and could tell me if they are worth the extra investment. Or if I should just get a set of trays. The chicks seem to hatch better, due to humidity control. First hatch was at recommended settings of 99.5 degf and 45% humidity for day 1-18. Next hatch will be 100.5 and 50% humidity. Chicks hatched day 22 and 23. Looking forward to spring eggs & chicks!

Update: First batch incubated: 14 out of 17 shipped eggs hatched!

I am going to import some bielefelder eggs as well from a hatchery in The Netherlands in March,so lets see how it goes with my first incubator :D

Hi i have just bought a R Com 20 Pro and just set it going with 10 duck eggs

it seems fine but is making a whirring noise every 20 seconds or so is this normal?

my thoughts it could be the humidity pump but not sure

Thanks

Stu

I love my r-com max 20, however; the humidity pump just went out on mine. Just got a replacement part in the mail @$40.
My fault, I used bottled spring water, and maybe my well water last year. You need to use DISTILLED WATER ONLY!
My warranty is expired.
So when the humidity alarm started going off, I followed the instructions in the booklet - and took the top off to clean it with a soft brush. It smelled terrible. So I cleaned out the unit, and wiped it down with peroxide & water. Put it back together, poor little eggs - I've been putting wet paper towels to add humidity until I could get the part replaced. It just kept beeping, the booklet says set humidity to 19 to turn off, mine would only go to 20 and continue beeping.

If your unit is still under warranty, I would contact the place where you ordered it. They swapped my first unit out.

If it is no longer under warranty, and you take the lid off:

DO NOT LET THE HUMIDITY UNIT TOUCH ANYTHING!
It is the first thing that will touch the counter - it is the part hanging down.

I can't believe the cost went up! I wanted to get the 50 this year, but 2017 is around the corner and the ultimate chicken coop is still in the planning stages. So I have time to wait for a sale.

Replaced humidity unit, went pretty quick. Success! Hatch on!

I tried hatching some Bielefelder eggs last year, however; they didn't develop. Not sure if they were infertile, or damaged in shipping. The eggs were so big, I put an x and an o - and twice a day I would make sure they rotated all the way. I'd like to get the rollers so I can put different size eggs in at the same time and get better rotation. I could only fit two Bielfelder eggs in one row!

Good luck on hatching your duck eggs, let me know how it goes. I was given a couple of Muscovey duck eggs last year.
But they didn't develop and when I researched it, they have special conditions compared to a regular duck egg.
Would like to try hatching duck eggs in the Spring.
