Hey all,
I am a little late joining in with you but I am 1st time hatcher too! I am on Day 20...and if you are nail biting now...wait until lockdown!! It's terrifying, exciting, disappointing-terrifying because one minute I am sure that if they start to hatch something will go wrong and I'll have to decide whether to help it out or not. Exciting because-well duh!! Disappointing because every time I look inside..every 5 minutes...and see nothing happening I am convinced that I did something wrong and will get no chicks.

Mama hen to one wonderful husband, 2 beautiful children, a GSPointer, Boston Terrier, Lots of hens, lots of chicks and Officially addicted to hatching Rare and Heritage Breeds!

In Loving Memory of my boy Becky-a WCB Polish Roo and Penelope a Delaware hen- R.I.P. my dear friends.

IroquoisEgg - How many do you have in your incubator? What are you hatching? I'm just hatching out my mixed breed babies. I can't imagine buying expensive eggs and worrying about them. Keep us updated!

I decided to move the 6 eggs I put in the Mini Incubator to the broody hen. The 12 egg disk that was sent with the mini wasn't working with the 6 larger eggs, they weren't turning at all. I double checked the turning instructions and couldn't figure out why they weren't turning. Called Briensa and asked them to please send the 7 egg disk that was suppose to come with the machine. We'll see what happens.

Did any of you take weight measurements before setting your eggs?

Model of bator: 1602 with auto turner-aftermarket fan installed by DH.

Hatching: Got 12 Lavender Ameraucana Bantams and 6 BBS Ameraucanas= 8 made it to lock down. Also, 8 of 8 shipped Black & Blue Mottled D'Uccle's in lockdown starting today. But really they have been in lock down since Friday b/c with all my excitement I didn't stop to figure out that setting 8 eggs 3 days after the original 18 would screw up my lockdown for the 18! Duh.

I set them Jan.31st at 6pm. So, tonight at 6pm marks 21 days exactly. Still no action at all. My temps were probably off here and there though...No, I didn't weigh any of them first. Wish I would've though. Been candling through out and had fun with that!!
