Chez Silkie - New Coop Just for Silkies.......... A few pics......

So we decided to get some Silkies........ Being a bantam breed we knew we could not put them in with our Barred Rock's. So, we priced up lumber to build our own, and nearly died at the cost. So, we looked around and found a 10x10 building, windows and vents for under $2000 including delivery. We finally got it delivered and set in place. Purchased some chain link dog kennel kits and started building.

Here are the results of day 1:

We had intended for it to be a 10x10 run, and to use the other kit to extend the Barred Rocks...... But plans change as you go......

You cannot see it but we have also covered the top with 1/2" bird netting. On the end we will hand things that sparkle to also keep the birds away.

I still have the door to cut (good use of a Dremel), a ramp to build and the hardware cloth to add around the fencing and the base of the side of the building facing in to the run.

More pictures to follow......................

I thought sparkly things attracted most animals.

By stepping on the tears I shed one by one I'll awake from my dreams, for this wait might just turn into sea foam.  When that door opens you will appear and wake me up.  After the clock rings 12, light will reach me and the door will close.  The road to finding me is perilous you must be having trouble.
