how to place eggs in automatic egg turner

I have two different incubators. One says pointy end down the other pointy end up. I put the eggs in each incubator like it says. So far the pointy end up eggs are pipping and dying. From now on only pointy end down for me.
 
I know his is an old post but can anyone tell me how to place them in a horizontal tray? Do you just lay them on their side with a lot of room to roll or do they need to be touching each other? I just did a hatch and had 4 full term but only one hatch so I'm wondering if it could be turning? Their positing in shell seemed a little off to me
