Can a metal shed be used as a coop?

We have one too, insulated the roof and sides, put a floor in, and swapped out those slider doors for barn style wood doors. Added... 4 windows and 2 pop doors. Plus a window in each door. Bedding will collect in the door tracts unless you put a "wall" there to stop it, that drove me crazy!

A sawzall and tin snips is all you need to start cutting holes in it.

Hi we are the doing the same with a metal shed. What did you use to insulate the shed? Where are you located? How cold does it get? This is our first winter with chickens in B.C. and the temperature ranges from 0 to -10 in the winter!! Thanks for any help you can offer

I found a metal shed on craigslist for $40, seems in ok condition. Do you think its ok for a coop, or should I stick with the pallet coop plan?

I have a 4x8 metal coop had it for years. I insulated it with Styrofoam and cover the insulation with the veneer off of interior doors. Warm in winter and cool in summer with plenty of air circulation. Predator proof (as long as I remember to close up the doors) and rodent free. I kept as many as 26 birds in three level coop with no problems and they stayed in the coop all winter never venturing outside hardly ever. I scraped the metal doors in favour of hinged wooden door. Metal doors were impossible due to freezing litter in the tracks.

i have a metal shed i want to turn into a chicken coop, I have a tight bugget to get it done. My building has no windows, i want some ideas on making a home made window using unconventional material. i have some ideas, I have plenty of wood and screen, i also have some plexyglass. not sure i want to use the plexiglass. I need the window to have some kind of cover so it don't rain inside the building. I could cover the window in the winter, I live in the south. Any ideas out there. or videos i have been looking with no success.

Thanks Byrta
