I was just thinking the other day how I rarely see emergency threads for ducks having sneezes or crusty eyes like a lot of the chicken posts and it got me to thinking: What diseases are ducks vulnerable to? Can they catch respiritory infections from wild birds like chooks do? Do they get scaley leg mites? Or are they just a lot hardier in general? Thanks!

I think a lot of the duck illnesses/emergencies are posted in the duck section, ladies to try to get the attention of duck people.
Just because while there are a few things that are common to both, ducks are prone to different kinds of problems.

Howdy gal, how's east TX faring today?

The real question is do ducks get scaly leg mites or CRD from chickens? I was just going to PM you about it!

My pal Highlander was asking for me, because I am a brainless imp today!

ducks get duck hepititis (first days of life) and duck plague(first days of life) . they also get lice and mite just like chickens, but dont get many other diseases because A) there always in water and B) have higher developed immune systems

Sorry, I'm not firing on all cylinders today, either.

I don't think they get leg mites because like the other poster said, they're in the water all of the time.
The CRD-well, they can get sinus infections and there are a couple of chicken born respiratory illnesses that ducks can get.
Symptoms, please?
Oh, things are OK, ranchy, 76 degrees with a heat index-we got weather a brewin' for sure!
