Big Red my RIR broody hatched 2 so far. I went to collect eggs this afternoon and found a cold chick, but still alive in the middle of the coop. That one is in the bator. I think I found it in time. So then I'm worried she might be a bad mama, so I did what I can't do with my Sumatra broody's. Picked her up un gloved
. She has a fresh still wet baby under her. As soon as I put her down she clucked at the lil one and tucked it under herself. OK, I feel better, she is a good mama.
. If this one survives in the bator she will get that one tomorrow and a chick of hers from the bator. From an egg she kicked out
. I looked at the calender and today is day 21, so by this time tomorrow she will probably be done. Those Sumatras could teach her a thing or two. Congrats!

, but probably more in line with what I have room for. DH said "3 chicks? And all roosters!"
