just delt with some broody RIR caos. The mama who just hatched went to take her lil ones out and the other mama RIR called them under her. So I interveined. Had to. Blocked off the babie stealer and cleaned out the new mama's nest. Gave her her lil ones back. I didn't count. I think she has 10!

I'm always shocked how people take something typed on a forum so personally :) If I say it here I have done it. No Bull poop from me. I'm not arguing, I'm stating what I see in MY flock of 10 years.I'm NOT P.C. If that offends please just block me :)

ok, I stand corrected. They are moving about the coop and I count 8. The 4 remaining eggs are in the bator. Not holding out a lot of hope for them. But if any hatch they go directly to mama red!

Broody hen was off her eggs with two chicks and all the other eggs are cool and one is starting to hatch.

The baby that pipped yesterday is out, a BIG black silkie. wee.gifNothing on the other eggs, but it's still early.

that doesn't always work. I've seen too many broody's kill chicks that weren't theirs. Back to their own mother is the best thing to do
