Apparently she's not a good broody.  She is acting like a broody except she isn't sitting on the nest at all.  Haven't her on it since I've been home.

I'm waiting for my girls to lay, but they are only four days old! roll.png

Deb

The difference between breakfast and chicks, is the temperature you use to "cook" the eggs!

What breeds do I have?  More than any sane person would own.

I think I may get some cream legbar hatching eggs next Feb.  Can anyone tell me about their personalities.  Do they lay well?  Do they get along with other breeds?  If I only have one rooster at my house, what kind would you get?  I want a lot of different colored eggs.  Do people mix their chickens?  Would people buy farmyard mixed chicks?

Mother to 4 wonderful children, grandmother to 4.  1 DH (39 years), 1 pug, 1 Basenji, 1 dashshund mix (notice I put my DH in that same group! hahaha)  6 EE's, 1 Buff Orphington, 1 RIR, 1 Silkie, 1 Barred Rock, 1 Brown Leghorn, 1 Polish, 1 Welsummer.  Hope to fill my basket with different colored eggs!

Deb

Hehe -doesn't it feel that way? You wait and worry through incubation, then once they hatch your mind instantly starts thinking about eggs.

My Cream legbar Cockerel is very gentle with the hens.  He is charming and always is finding things for them to eat...He is constantly on patrol for danger to protect the hens.

He did sort of charge me once...but I think he was only kidding....  He is for the most part a tremendous sweetheart.  He is very protective of the hens...when I pick one up and she squawks he is instantly there to protect her but then he sees it is me and his hackles go down.  Don't know if all Cream Legbar cockerels are this good---but I would rate my little guy among the best of roosters.

Hi QuackerJackFarms

Beautiful blue----is it spotted, or did the camera give a 'noise' picture.  Great egg...congratulations.
