Anyone know Ideal Poultry's NPIP #?  I got my chicks from the grain store and they didn't have it handy but mentioned the chicks came from them.  I'd appreciate it!  Makes keeping track of NPIP stuff a bit of a challenge.

What would you need their NPIP number for? You cannot use their number for yourself anyway. That is for them only.

I ordered Blue light brown Dutch Bantams this spring. I got 25 birds thinking I would have plenty to choose a couple breeder Dutch type with decent colour... I was wrong. With the blue gene, I got 3 different types like I wanted, black( light brown) , blue(BLB), and splash. 8 chicks croaked within the first few days, the rest are healthy. But.....now that they're getting close to adult I am seeing a lot of faults in Dutch Type...mainly long backs and earlobes that aren't pure white, which people are telling me here on BYC that they have been, at some point , been crossed with Old English Game bantams. I immediately emailed Ideal and they pretty much lied to my face. I am done with Ideal Poultry and I will never spend ANOTHER dime or waste my time with their crappy crossbred JUNK.I advise no one to by anything from Ideal Poultry. Tell me this is a purebred Blue light brown Dutch Bantam cock that's 3.5 months old....

ordered 25 st run assorted light chicks, got only brown leghorns and ideal 236 but most are starting to look like males. also ordered 25 st run assorted clean leg bantam, got 26 one doa.

I ordered a variety (of my own choosing) of Chicks in late August. In the evening of 9/6 I got shipping confirmation. The post office called me this morning 9/8. The chicks has arrived. I was really worried about their condition because the early fall Temps here in Northern California are bi-polar. 50's in the morning upper 90's in the day.

I am happy to report all 15 chicks arrived happy and healthy. No packing peanuts were needed. They are unpacked, eating and drinking vigorously. I ordered 5 brahma assorted, and the packing slip said 3 light, 2 buff. Based on color that is backward, but I don't mind.

Great first experience from Ideal!

You do realize that you aren't going to get show quality birds from a hatchery right? For that, you need to find a breeder that breeds to the standard. Hatcheries breed for quantity, not quality.

yeah, I sold all my hatchery birds and found light browns and BLB from two different breeders. Both lines are from Holland import bloodlines
