Thank you back yard ckicken. my daughter came in and told me my bantams top beeck is gone.So I go look at her in her cage and iam wondering how? It's gone but there is nothing wrong with her, but why is there a lump under her bottom beeck its two days later she's steal laying eggs but unable to eat are drink I couldn't figure out how to open her mouth then I read about JMOZK chicken and realized that was her beeck so I felt and pushed and sow her beeck was there on the second push it poped out so don't something crazy until your absolutley certain they are not suffering like pain are starve to death I wish I took pictures

THAT IS BIZARRE /img/smilies/ep.gif

something is definitely not right....

in the first pic -- did she just have something in her mouth that made it look weird??

i was gonna ask if it was the same chicken

i can't imagine that the top beak was pushed into her head.....

that is one for the book of "things that make you say... hmmmmm /img/smilies/hmm.png"

Was it under to bottom beck like mine it looked completely gone except for the lump under her bottom beck I push twice and it poped out I was thankful to read about someone elses chicken.

So, I woke up this morning to find that a newly introduced full grown hen into my flock of 11 hens had her top beak totally torn or ripped off! I don't see any remains of it, but the bottom beak is fully intact. She didn't want to comb out of her nest-I'm sure scared to death- and would not peck at food when I presented it to her. What do I do? Do I isolate her or let her try to establish her bottom "pecking order" which is very evident. Will she still be able to eat and drink? Will the beak grow back? I just don't know what is the best thing for her right now.
I will appreciate any helpful suggestions. Thank you!
If you have a place to keep your chicken separate from the others, you can hand feed her a few pellets at breakfast lunch n dinner time for first couple days..She will still be able to lift water with her bottom Beak. Keep watch to see if she can pick any pellets up after 3-4days of hand feed and pain has gone away..
the beak will grow back. If you have the patience to take care of your chicken you don’t need to kill it. 😊 this has happened to my rooster twice now.
