Ah okay, I remember Totalcolour and others saying their ducks went after bugs like crazy, but maybe only the ducklings?

My full grown ducks STILL eat bugs - dunno what';s wrong with CL's bugs.

CL's bugs are to little for the duckies. CL needs a couple nice cute little bats for her wee problem bugs.

Remember CR is at his "yard sale". I hope that went well for him.  what is Jerry's?

Rats, I don't see any cheap exacto-ish knives; I've found the old one I bought eons ago at Ikea as part of a picture-hanging kit is the second most useful tool I own, after the small needle-nose visegrips.

Hey, again, I hope everyone's well and making progress. I'm barely coping with chores and the disciplines of diabetes right now, not to mention more eggs than I can handle and the usual spring crazies.

Okay,  everyone I have posted this many times in many places. I have viewed BYC how tos, I have looked on YouTube and I am still terrified to try.

I have this wonderful small upright freezer that I want to turn into an incubator but I am scared to start. I just don't know where or how. Husband is useless in this department (sorry honey). I just keep reading and I just don't know where to start.

Also, some have incubators that they start the eggs....then they move the eggs to another for lock down. Why is this?

Please advise before my heads begins to spin. And YES I am going through tthe BYC how to forums looking for advice to. Problem is I don't trust well and I know you guys and trust your advice. I tend to be leary from people I don't know and want verification. Not that they (in this case) mean any harm....just that I don't want to go through all the trials and tribulations if they don't know what it is that they are talking about.

So my hubby made me my cabinet incubator I love it, I do move my eggs to a LG to hatch in. Why it keeps my cabinet clean and I don't need to up the humidity in the cabinet just the little LG.  I found a great site that has a heater and fan and therm all together, I'm going to order one in a couple of weeks and see if I can make another incubator or maybe I'll just see if I can make a nice brooder with it. Its a Incu Kit and its at the incubator warehouse. There are 3 sizes to choose from, now saying that Ive never used them so don't know if they work or not.  I was thinking of doing a frig incubator but just thought it was to big for me and I was afraid to mess with the freon stuff.

Oh my cabinet incubator has the same stuff that the GQF has, that's were I got all the parts. Oh I also have a PID unit to take care of the temp in it also. Its a plug and go incubator LOVR IT

I would be a lot more outraged about this if I hadn't tried to get 4H clubs started only to be smacked down by the insane new requirements for club and project leaders: the bar to participation is so high now that I don't see how it can work for most on-farm people, let alone those in cities and suburbs with two working parents or single parent homes anywhere. There needs to be a top-down rebuilding of at least the Washington State 4H program to put it back to where it was a life-skills educational dynamo and community-centered family activity.

Yes, I'm cranky about this. I was a ten-year 4Her, Chicago trip winner, Junior Leader and then Project leader for another eight years or so, and when the time came for my kids to join all I could find were closed doors.

Sing it girly!  We were told we would be "indoors" for today. Well we were in an open barn. No heat and the wind was not kind. We were there from 7 this am to 5:30. Now that we are home and have had dinner and taken care of chooks, I am setting here next to the wood stove and still cold. I am so tired and sore I am ready to call it a day. Now I get to look forward to cleaning the trailer and restocking tomorrow.

Oh and one more fun note from today. I do not like Steel toe boots. However this free pair I have happen to be steel toe. Well today I guess I should be thankful for steel toes. See while SUV had parked where I was headed. She decided she couldn't park in handicap and  started to back out just asI turned to continue. Well I bumped into the side of her car (yes she had pulled in that close to me) And she ran over the toes of my boot. I have the black marks still on my boot from where the tire slid off. That was almost a close call!

Golly Gee Whiz!!!! I am happy your'e here to tell the story.

And I can so relate about being cold and having trouble warming up. .
