Ask pettec63 what it is called.

Sorry about the double post, I thought it did not go through the first time.

other than that, when was the eye infection ?

We got her and my orginal flock march 3rd.  They were all adults.  But when we got her home the 2 days later I noticed her eyes were funny looking.  I had no clue what to do about it.  So we went to the local feed store and hubby asked.  The vetericyn was recommended  but I definately will stop using it and get her some different medicine  Which antibiotic does anyone here recomend?  penicillin?  or has something else had better luck.  She doesn't have a runny nose or anything like a cough.  She makes normal chicken noises.  and gets along well with the others.  So far none of the others has had any problems at all.  I appreciate the suggestions. it is very helpful and informative to me.  I am learning new things everyday... like baby bunnies are ugly when born and boy turkeys can be strange and sit on a nest of eggs.

Thanks everyone

My group: The girls: 3 speckled sussex, 4 barred rock,. The Boys:  2 white chicks, 3 rouen ducks.   We also have 1 scottish fold cat,  1 1/2 persian 1 red heeler dog.  I'm a full time college student.  2 kids, 3 stepkids, 8 step grankids.  that's all of the bunch I think.

2 floors; only 3 above the garage doors because the garages are dug into the hillside so we would not have to navigate a steep driveway in the snow.

Luckily all but one window in that hall flips in the frame. The last one hits the wall because of the angle.

I don't know about eye creams/gels, but I would give her Tylan. You can get it in injectable format or a powder to mix with water. Swollen, oozing eyes can be a sign of a respitory infection which can be very contagious. So watch for other signs in the rest of your flock, runny noses, sneezing, gasping, wheezing, as well as bubbly, oozy, swollen eyes, and if you see any in your other birds, treat the whole flock. The injectable Tylan works better/faster from what I've read, but I've only used the mix with water kind.

Those naked mole rats are about as ugly as those hairless dogs that seem to be so popular in Southern California. Yucky!

I'll keep my beautifully feathered hens, though if I don't get them saddles or get rid of my roosters, some of them will be naked too!  Darn roosters.

Hi guys! Been super busy the last few days and finally had some downtime to catch up here!!!

DH got a new position and his new job requires much more traveling. Most of his peers are flying in next week so we are hosting dinner here on Tuesday night for them. Been super busy tackling the honey-do list with DH, which also included redoing the pine floors yesterday. Big job but they look so much better!

Also super busy with kid stuff and multiple doctors/dentist visits. Oldest DD also took her SAT's again this morning. Youngest and oldest DD tested again for new belts in Taekwon Do last night and did awesome.

Looking forward to the sun the next few days!!! OH! I'm gonna run for a quick snack and see if I can see the moon!!! Anybody see it yet, or are we too cloudy????

The roosters in my pen seem to have everything all mixed up.  They can't seem to figure out the right way to face when they are friendly with the hens...  They keep getting on the hens facing backwards.   hubby says they are retarded  lol....  I think they will eventually figure it out.
