Robin I have called and called hubby decided to try an oxytetracycline (yes I have spelling issues)today so we gave all even our 4 month olds injections today! We are changing their water in the am with fresh solution so they are getting fresh at all times i am gonna get a probiotic come pay day to slip in to the water too. I really appreciate all theat you have done thank you sooo much!

Is this a crazy idea?

I've been reading a lot about rehabilitating chickens.  Many sites recommend putting one or two calm chickens in with the injured one to keep her company.  Neither my EE nor my RIR fit that description!    This past week, I've been playing chicken and have had to be with her all the time.  I walk away and she goes nuts.  I have to sit with her until she goes to sleep, and good heaven, that bird wakes up early!

This morning, as I was woken up a LOT earlier than I wanted to be, I got to thinking, now that she's going to spend more time in her hospital cage and less time in her chair, maybe I should get some chicks to put in with her.  I can have up to 6 chickens and right now I only have 3.  Good idea?  Bad idea?  Would I add 1?  2? or 3?  Or none at all?

I'm thinking chicks because chicks have a much softer temperment than chickens their current age (7 weeks).  I don't want to get anything that would be mean to my lil girl.

My Light Brahma's temperment has always been to sit back and watch what's going on around her.  She never gets involved in the ruckus the other two do.  She's very easy going.

I saw the great Liberace in the round way back when. He was absolutely great and what a showman. He teased the girls in the audience with all the rocks on his fingers and of course his ermine coat with a long train. This was back in Maryland at Pepper Hill. The cat could tickle the ivories.

Did you know that he was a spokesman for Baldwin Pianos and when he toured he had his own piano with him. The contract for hauling it, setting it up, etc was awarded to the various national moving companies. Mayflower had it for a while, then United and so on. It was always interesting to talk to the driver hauling it.

I saw the moon today! ( in detail I mean, lol ) We've had a huge and decently powerful telescope for years now but I've never had the fully powered batteries, right time of month, and right time of day and weather without a moon filter to be able to track down and view the moon without seriously damaging my eyes. That's right, for those of you who don't go star-gazing - The moon hurts. Without a moon filtering lens that subtracts 25% of the actual light the moon is giving off, looking through the lens at a full or quarter or even crescent moon is very dangerous, as it is exceedingly bright, not to mention tampering with the focus to get it right down to the gritty gorgeous details of craters, valleys, and all. Well, I finally got to do it - Tonight just before it got too bright and late, I was able to track down the moon with my laser sight (new batteries) and view just the very edge of it so it didn't hurt too much, and man! Is it amazing to see the moon, in person, in such enormous blown-up detail. It is incredible. Plus, I was out a bit early, so I could actually differ the dark side of the moon with the sky. It was eerie, really. Seeing a giant gray globe moving quite quickly through space.

Anyway, just had to share with excitement. The lunar eclipse for us will be this June 5th, hopefully we'll have a nice clear sky that night, and the moon will be darkened out enough, I'll be very excited to see a full detail surface of the moon, soaked in rich scarlet to deep blood red coloration.
