It looks like a bunch of you are going to be at the Mother Earth News show tomorrow? I would love to see the show, but it will depend on how my feet hold up to the day.

I finally got the note in my mail box. The one that complains about Monsieur Pierre's crowing. I don't understand lau.gif Just because he starts at 5 in the morning. Some people. lol Any way I need to re-home the Crevecoeur flock. If anyone is interested in them give me a PM. I am planning on keeping a couple of the hens, so I am going to ask 50.00 for them on craigslist. The roo is still doing his job and is very gentle. So far he has never made an aggressive move towards anyone, including the dogs.

Jet has decided that messing around with the chickens isn't worth it. He has now had several days of hanging out with the roaming flock. I don't think that I am willing to leave the flock and the dog together without supervision yet. But so far so good.

To say the least I haven't gotten around to re-homing Jet. He managed to worm his way into my heart. It seem to help that he has learned not to mess with me, especially when I am not in the mood. He does still tend to use the sofa as a trampoline at times. I had planned on replacing the sofa after Puppy passed away, but at this rate it will be awhile before I will have to replace it. Jet also seems to love sleeping in the leather arm chair in the main living room at night. I haven't figured out away to prevent him from jumping over the baby gate.

I am going to start reading some of the back pages here now.

Jeez - some people sleep past 5? tongue.png I wish! I have to be sure to be out BEFORE the girls wake up or they will all 'yell' at me from the coop.

Those are beautiful birds! Too bad you have to say goodbye to them.

welcome back frow.gif

Wow Justbugged, those are gorgeous birds! I have never heard of or seen that kind before, but I'm a noob.

Hi everyone! Just popping in to say a quick hello. And real fast, I can't believe how much free-ranging girls eat compared to non-free-ranging girls. For the last few weeks I've been able to let them out for several hours a day to range the backyard and they eat like crazy; grass, bugs, dirt, rocks, weeds, flowers, etc. I NEVER realized exactly how much they were eating outside until they had to be left in the coop all day today because it was raining and we weren't home. They almost emptied the feeder when it *should* have lasted several more days in comparison to how they've been eating. Craziness! I guess when they're all cooped up there's nothing to do but eat me out of house and home though huh? Glad we're going to be letting them free in the backyard most of the time, after our run is built and they're a bit older. OK, gonna watch some Bones and knit.

Well, I have 2 LF and 3 bantam araucanas to take to the Mother Earth Fair tomorrow.  My whites are a sad sight.  I thought I was finished showing for a while so let them out to free range- big mistake.  Thank goodness for the black birds.  I just dust them off.  I figure I'll leave the Polish home, as, although they are excellent layers, they are more of an exhibition breed than a heritage breed in my eyes- they take a lot of work.  Hope to see all you chickie folks there!

If it isn't crested, tufted, frizzled or silkied...it's boring!

For all the bee-keepers on here; someone is confused about their bees - and wants them gone smile.png

Such an odd listing.  LOL!  A picture would have helped.  I doubt anyone would want to make a drive only to discover they drove out to pick up something they didn't want - like a wasp nest.

OK for anybody looking to build an incubator or install a fan in a still air LISTEN UP ! ! ! DO NOT spend too much on a fan! I just scrapped a Wolfe tanning bed. In it was 8 yes eight nice 115 VAC fans. PERFECT for bators. They are about 4" square and 1 1/2" +/- thick. They will be cheap to chicken buddies.
