You should check out Norwex or E-Cloths. They are microfiber cloths infused with silver; I use them for days on end with no stink because after the cloth is rinsed in hot water and hung to dry overnight, it neutralizes the bacteria it picked up all day. LOVE me some E-cloths! I use them to clean all over the house :)

yeah this is awesome for spraying sponges & sinks & stuff.

I go buy a bottle of Chlorox Clean-up with bleach.spray bottle, blue label.

After I am done using the contents, the bottles last a long long time refilled with the solution.

Regular spray bottles do not stand up to the solution very well.

Edited to add: I "play" in enough to poop & dirt everyday to keep my immunal system high on it's toes !

I do not want athelete's foot fungus in my shower, nor e.coli & salmonella on my counter though.

For this info we would both use PMs as bashing is unacceptible on BYC open forums.

PM  RFF and ask her.

I will send a PM to you.

Popping in after a few days and just skimmed 30 pages! So hard to keep up!!!

Welcome to all the new peeps! welcome-byc.gif

4321, so sorry to hear about your troubles with David and your DH's boss. hugs.gif

CL, Poor Jack!!!! So sorry for him and your lumber budget!!! Hope he heals up ok.

We had a bobcat lurking two nights ago, and it swiped the chicken wire right of off the PVC door on one of our grow out pens and took two young birds. One of my cuckoo olive eggers and my lavender orpington cockerel. So mad!!! Beefed everything up and he hasn't been back.....yet.

So we have officially decided to part with both Orpington flocks. We just have too many birds, too big a feed bill, and they eat a lot and take up the most space since they are the largest birds we have. I will be listing them soon here on BYC, but wanted to give all you guys a heads up first.

First we have Baxter's flock. This is a 50% English Blue and Black Orpington flock that I acquired from Mary/Backyardfarm down in Vancouver WA, and she got her original stock from Julie/Bamachicken from her rooster Charlie's pen. This flock has a black cock, two black hens and two blue hens. They are 2 yrs old this August.

Next we have Max's flock. These are my last generation of split black Orpingtons. They are all black (1 cock & 4 hens) and they are about a year old and all carry the lavender gene. If bred together, you will have a 25% chance of hatching out lavender babies. The roo and one hen are from my crossing of my English Orps over lavender Orps I also got from Mary/Backyardfarm who got her lav orps from Hinkjc here on BYC. The other 3 girls in this flock I bought from Cowgirlgrace who is also working on the Lavender Orp project when she was done with them. I also have 3 juvenile Lav Orps left, that I think are girls, but one may turn out to be a boy, that were hatched from this flock in early April that could also go.

If anyone is interested in either flock, please PM me.

So sorry about your chickens Tamara! Dumb bobcat!

I was about to go nuts with BYC down for a while, LOL!

Has anyone bought chickens from "The Original Chicken Man" Donald Weeks in Orting? He has some I might consider but he also seems to have hundreds of birds...don't know how anyone could keep a healthy/clean flock with so many available. WDYT? Should I go check it out or search for small flock families to buy from?

I seem to remember someone telling me to stay away from him. Can't remember exactly, though.

I'm using some swap eggs to help test a new incubator (or I WOULD be if the vendor hadn't messed up and delayed my incubator, they're in my reliable incubator right now), so you're welcome to any of these little ones who happen to hatch. I'm sure we could figure out a place to meet. There are sebrights (don't look to be developing, though), bantam Cochins, some split bantam Cochins, and a couple of my LF mixed eggs as controls.

OK thanks. I am only looking for pullets right now, not chicks. I wish I could have more chicks but we don't have room! Thanks for the offer though :)

Posting this again in case anyone missed it: I want 1-2 more birds, EEer/Ameraucana (light colored) OR Marans who will lay dark eggs or olive eggs. Must be 12-17 weeks old (prefer older than 14 weeks). Will pay $15/bird and drive an hour from 98042. Thanks!!
