Good Luck! I have LF Cochins and would love to start a breeding program, and possibly show them in the next couple years. Still trying to learn and decide what color to work on!

Does that include silkies?  I have a silkie that I think about bringing to the livestock auction every Saturday.  He's yours if you want him.

I'm not keeping up with this thread for now.

GH fair next week!  Feeling a bit less nervous.  Both the girls have finally settled on our sweet and gentle little d'anvers.  I am relieved my oldest didn't stick with the Sumatra.  She'll be great in a couple of years, but too riled up for a first-time fair chicken.

Just visited the Thurston Co. Fair.  Sooo much fun.  Felt better after seeing the condition of some of the kids' poultry projects.  Dirth feathers.  Absent feathers.  Poopy butt.   (And I'm sorry, but your "hen" is anything but!)  I'm getting a bit jaded now.

Still, the girls got a good look at some real spurs and they finally understood why I have encouraged them to put the cockerels down before they get squirmy.  Our boys still have just tiny spikes where their spurs will be.

Any how..... I'm not real chatty on this thread but like to keep up and I will have no time to until Septemberish.  So, if you want to, PM me, especially if you need me to get into plant-geek mode.  Always ready to help, even if you don't want it!!! tongue.png

Never mind me.  I really have no idea what I'm talking about, I just like pretending that I do.

I'll take him. PM me your address or where you would like to meet, I'm still sorta familiar with the Bonny Lake area. Do you want him gone before Sunday?

A rat or mouse can eat the peanut butter off the top of the trigger without setting it off!  I wasn't catching anything with the food on top of the trigger. they would get it without setting off the trap. then I put it under the trigger and caught two in three daysthumbsup.gif

Ah, I will have to try that clever trick with my mouse traps!!!

I have a bunch of extra chicks/chickens I just can't deal with right now on top of everything else.....

I would like to offer them for sale for a steal of a price just to get the numbers down and get some relief. I have way to many right now and am just overwhelmed...... These are all worth way more then list price and I will give a huge discount for 5 or more chicks...... I will donate most of these chicks to a 4h home as well so please contact me for details.

They are not from hatchery birds! The parents are all show and breeding quality stock who do very well in the eastern states.

What I have is:

3 weeks old $5 each

All are LF and are strait run but I have sold most I "think" are the males. Its still possible I missed one or two in the bunch.....

2 Barred Rock

2 Splash Jersey Giants

3 Black Jersey Giants

1 blue Jersey Giant

3 Black TRUE Ameraucanas

2 RARE Gold laced Brahmas $20 each

8 weeks old $15 each

Showgirl Silkies while, partridge and splash

2 Silkie roosters $10 each or fee if you buy anything else!

1 is really nice BQ splash, is almost 2yrs old, he has a correct comb but his comb is a little bit to red and he got into a fight with my rabbit and lost a toe nail... long story....

1 is a really nice white boy, 1 year old who is great with the girls and amazing with chicks. Could be shown but he is moulting right now so isn't 100%.

I would like to rehome them ASAP as I have 2 funerals coming up this weekend then I am getting married the following weekend.

What a horrible time for you when it should be a wonderful one with your upcoming wedding. I hope you heal fast and have an amazing start on your new life! I really wish I could help you out with the birds but I am on the opposite side of the state.

I had no idea they could fly.  Not so sure what I'd do if I saw a peacock flying my direction!  hide.gif  That's amazing, they fly much higher than my chickens, that's for sure.  It must be kind of cool to have them around, though.  They're so pretty when we see them at the zoo.

All my neighbors said that the people who owned the house before us had owned peacocks; they said there was routinely a peacock on someone else's roof, or sounding like it was screaming from the backyard; apparently they scream?! And I thought chickens made weird noises!

Hey CR!!! I see that your in trouble as usual! gig.gif Good to know that some things never change!

I think the first show of the season at Tacoma Little Theater is going to be a hoot! I'm not in it but it's being directed by my friend Elliot who was my stage husband in California Suite so I got to read scenes with actors who were auditioning.

The show is SYLVIA about a man who finds a dog (played by an adorable young woman) and brings her home. He is crazy about the dog but his wife doesn't want her and it creates kind of a love triangle between the three of them.

Besides being a funny, sweet and somewhat naughty show, one of the evenings will be a fundraisers for Coalition Humane for affordable spay and neuter since Elliot is a board member and the audience is invited to bring their dogs to the show!

I'll be auditioning later in the season so don't know if I'll be onstage this year or not but have been asked to be the stage manager for LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS this spring. That should be an interesting experience and a fun show to see!

If they got used to peacocks screaming, I don't think you need to worry about Ricky then.  wink.png  I hope you find a home for him.  He's got an awfully cute crow and he's such a pretty boy.  Granted, the early morning crowing probably isn't too cute.

Early morning I can deal with. CONSTANT, never ending, early morning crowing I can't deal with. That boy is persistent!! Come 5:45 (lately, since it's staying darker longer) he crows non stop until 7:30! eesh.
