I wonder if that was the story.  I recall my friend saying something about Oregon.  Hmmmm.  So it could be true.  I kind of passed it off as an urban legend.

Do you have a freezer big enough to hold stuffed animals, pillows, etc. for a while?  I've heard freezing bugs will kill them.  It seemed to do a certain spider in - so, I can tell you, it will kill some of them.

Apparently this hen likes an empty nest. Although from time to time I check the yard for eggs I haven't found any, thankfully.

Now to my waterpipe problem. I think I'll just lay a pipe out to the coop and at the house side I will connect it with a short designated hose. This'll be just for spring to fall. Winter I'm resigned to carrying water out to them. I'll just chalk it up to exercise.

Thanks to all who responded to my questions.

I'm so dang smart, I swear I should just put a zipper on it.

I was feeling so smug about not having gals laying in the yard. Well, I moved my canoe today and there they  were, 2 large eggs; "egads" he mumbled around the foot in his mouth at the sight of the 2 eggs nested in the dry grass hidden by the canoe. Talk about being taken down a peg or two and by some dumb chickens at that. LOL.

So I finished the immediate chores and did a head count. Oh, oh, 1 missing RIR. Checked the yard, checked the brambles, checked the poll barn, checked the coop. No RIR #7. Went through the neighborhood looking no luck. After about 1 1/2 hr. gave up and went into the house. An hour later on my way to the garage, there they were. 4 taking a dust bath, 4 drinking water and 1 was laughing. Yes she was, I swear she was. I'm happy she's back from where eve she was.

She was   and   at you looking for her while she was  in her secret little spot  laying more eggs...   And BTW I can say my chickens are very good they have NEVER laid eggs in the yard!!  EVER !!!

Maybe because they don't free range. (DW is totally against it.)

I would not believe something was true just because it was shown on AP. Discovery is starting to go downhill, too. It's a shame, they used to be the networks I always watched. Now I feel my IQ go lower every time I pass over AP while channel surfing. Nat Geo Wild was pretty good when I watched it a year or so ago.

I'm sorry your birds were attacked.  Can you get a photo sensor for your style automatic door?  I have one and it works very well.  It opens about 10 minutes after it starts getting light, and it closes about 10 minutes after dusk (about 9:30 p.m. right now - unless I have too many lights on in the house, then it will close when I turn them off).  I can program mine, but I actually prefer the outdoor lighting conditions to control that.

"Sylvia" opens this Friday at Tacoma Little Theatre. Directed by my friend Elliot, who played my husband in last years" Californis Suite", Sylvia is the story about a middle aged man who finds a stray dog in the park and brings her home to his wife who is not interested in having a dog at this point in their lives. Sylvia is played by an adorable and engaging young woman. Sarah jessica Parker played Sylvia on broadway.

It's a funny, sweet play - a bit naughty at times, particularly when we discover during one of their park visits that Sylvia is in heat and makes no "bones" about her interest in doing the deed with her buddy Bowser.

On Sunday, September 9th, folks are invited to bring their dogs to the theater, (tickets must be purchased in advance, waivers must be signed) for a fundraiser for Coalition Humane for affordable spay and neuter.

The show features my cutout cat cookies as in one part of the play Sylvia is offered a "bark bar" in the shape of a cat. It's my job to keep them supplied n cookies throughout the 4 week run of the show.

And that's what on my local theater front this month!

For tickets and information call Tacoma Little Theatre (253) 272- 2281

And I miss you too T-hi! Good to see you back!

So sorry!  We hear owls "Whoo, Whoo,  Whooing" all evening long.  They look so cute up in the trees.  I probably wouldn't think they were so cute if they were attacking my chickens.

Ouch!  You OK now?

Much better now. It was pretty awful and since so much spray escaped we had to evacuate the house and play in the yard for like 2 hours! I hadn't planned on staying outside with the kids that long but there was no other choice. A little spray here and there along the baseboards and I would have stayed in there....but the whole can in one room? Eesh :( Poor cat was pretty trapped in the house too...I had to chase him to the basement and lock him down there.

Kinda like all those "I didn't know I was pregnant" shows? Wha???? How stupid can people be? How out of touch with themselves can people be?

And the "Baby Story" and birth shows...um, it's JUST birth!! NOT an emergency. For crying out loud I had mine at home with no pain meds. Sure, childbirth hurts. But that's because it's WORKING. barnie.gif  All those shows are so mind numbing and infuriating.
