It was really great to meet you and Diane (Lord I hope I remembered that correctly) and I apologize if I did not. I love being able to put faces with names! I enjoyed talking to you and feel like I learned a lot just in the short time we were at your house.

Pierre has got to be one of the cutest/coolest little guys ever!! He's handsome too and I love his name.

Anyway, thanks again CR and I'll keep you updated from time to time on the girls.

Have a great day everyone!

Did you get the blue ones or the black ones, or one of each?  They're really nice looking so far..

How is CR's shoulder ??????????????????

Well I know it's still there cause it still hurts but the combo of percocet, a good muscle relaxer and heavy anit-inflam drugs have helped to take the edge off. Currently waiting for results of Xray's.

Heck, we'll even be driving through that wide spot in the road near where CR lives...assuming I don't blink and miss it. wink.png   Does anyone know of any chicken related events, shows, fairs (with decent chicken exhibits), etc. happening?  Or how about a meetup for coffee, lunch, whatever?  Would love an opportunity to actually meet some of  you.

I certainly would be up for a North-end meet-up.  It's always good to meet new people who are just as crazy (or more so) about chickens!

On a different note, I was wondering what recommendations anyone can give about freshening or sweetening the soil in a chicken pen.  It's pretty smelly in there and the surrounding area and we're looking to fix that.  Any advice is greatly appreciated!

So I just rearranged the chicken run again. The girls prefer to lay in the one basket I put in the rabbit hutch, so I took out the divider that's in there (it was a rabbit hutch and had an open area and a closed area, so I just made it one big area) and I was able to fit another basket in there! Hopefully that means they won't all have to wait and wait until the nest is free, now 2 at a time can lay comfortably. I also moved it to the other side of the run that doesn't get sun; they were roasting in there while laying eggs if it was any time after 11:30am. Poor things! Now it won't get any sun at all I don't think.

Filled up 10 water balloons for the big kids to play with in the yard and now I get a break. William is napping, then we'll take a walk maybe. Want to do something fun but alas, no car!

What's everyone else up to today? Seems quiet here...

Hello friends,

I've been lurking for months and I've noticed we have so many new people.

A belated welcome to you all!

Some of you know my son was overseas. I'm so happy to report that he's back, safe and sound.

Which means I'm up for a party!

Who wants to get together?

The photo is of my first year "cottage" garden. Mostly fragrant flowers, herbs, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and the yummiest Italian plums.

So delicious to go out and water the gardens these beautiful September mornings!

So glad your DS is home!!! wee.gif

I want to get together! North end meetup!  Where and when? Maybe Third Place Books?

And who will join us? Hallerlake? Kim H? RonB? Other new Northenders? Terrorbird?

Fun!!! clap.gif
