Poop stuck on feet

How do you know it's for sure a "toeball"? I was given some chickens and I didn't inspect them before I brought them home. One of the chickens has has a huge ball on her toe and I tried soaking it in warm water and only a little came off. Just want to make sure it's not a growth of some sort.

You may have to soak it for a long time.
Take a good, clear, well lit, close up pic if still in doubt.
