cornish rock cross lay eggs?

Thanks so much junebuggena and duluthralphie! I seriously thought her days were numbered and was bracing myself for the worst. So at this point I can do away with the 2X a day diet, right?

I would keep her on it , she looks healthy, why change what is working?

Good point! I'll just keep doing what I'm doing then. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. It is truly appreciated!

What color do they lay, I've been looking for a white egg.

You should try a Pekin Duck. I have one who outlays all my chickens with an all pearl white egg. Big egg too

This Thread has convinced me not to dress out my Red Ranger Females. I have 2 I put in a laying flock at 8 weeks of age. I plan on breeding them with Dorkings and Delaware roosters, can someone suggest other roosters I could would cross with meat bird hens? Is there a decent meaty heritage breed that matures faster than a Deleware? is there a better tasting bird than a Dorking?

Have you tried eating your Dorking chickens?

I will eat my dorkings when they are large enough, they are still chicks. At the time I posted that the Dorkings were just Embryos, they are about 2 weeks old now. I do plan on eating their offspring but the ones i have now will be my breeders. If they were sexed correctly I have 2 females and a male. I will be adding a red ranger hen to that pen, and likely I will add other hens who go broody Sense that pen was set up to keep predators out and tiny chicks in.
