Tetra Tint chicks at TSC

I suppose I should have said "created" strictly for them. There isn't anything that stays at one hatchery anymore. If it sells then another hatchery will pick it up to make a buck, too.

Another place may be breeding them now, but last year when they first came on the scene at TSC and a big crazy was started about them, they were all comming from Mt. Healthy hatchery and were being sold only to TSC stores, the MtHealthy people told me that themselves, however this year they have them listed in the site and avaiable to anyone.

Do you know if that website was selling the actuall hybrid or where they breeding Tetratint to Tetratint ?

Well, this thread is a mystery solved! My MIL bought us ten chicks from TSC just before Easter. As they started to grow, they had lovely red/brown coloring on their heads and shoulders. When they laid their first eggs a few days ago, it became apparent they were not the white leghorns she had thought. They are indeed, personable ladies, and I'm enjoying them as my entre into backyard chickens.

i love my tetra tints. they are so calm, never broody, and much more social than any other chickens I've had. i would recommend this breed to anyone.

Thank you so much for this thread. I received 3 as a gift from a customer where I work and I had no idea what they were. I am beyond excited to know what they are!!

Hi All,

We just got six girls from TSC yesterday and they were labeled as "Tetra Brown Ameraucana." After much head scratching (I'm new to chickens so don't have all resources ready at the fingertips), I found this and another thread here about "Tetra Browns." Do any of you have pics of yours to share so I can get an idea of what they will look like as they age? Here's a few snaps of our as-yet-unnamed ladies (or hopefully ladies).

Also, can anyone tell me if these are actually different in any meaningful way than "Tetra Tints" and "ISC Browns"?

I work at Tractor Supply. We get them from the breeder, and according to my boss, they are bred specifically for Tractor Supply. Great egg layers and very cold/hot hardy

Thank you for the info! Do you have any idea if there is a meaningful difference between the labels "Tetra Tint," "Tetra Brown," and Tetra Ameraucana"?

I've seen all 3 used and no one seems to know if it is just a labeling variation or if there is an actual difference between chickens with these different labels. Any insight?

I think Tetra Tint and Tetra Brown are just 2 different colors. The Tetra Ameraucana is a misspelling. The birds aren't the Ameraucana poultry breed. The Company name is Tetra Americana. I think someone heard it pronounced and just presumed it was an Ameraucana breed not realizing it was a chick from a company called Americana. I know I made that mistake until I looked up the Tetra company and saw the wording on their website.
Best,
Karen
