meat birds in with laying hens

Thanks for all the advice. I think we are going to try it and see how it goes. If they don't get along we will just pull the hens out and put them into a smaller coop (we have a couple old dog houses on the property that will work for a few weeks).
Just found your article. We are thinking about trying the same thing and looking for advice. How did it work out for you? Thanks!
 
I raised 15 Cornish cross last year for the first time. At the time I also had 12 hens about 6 months old. The hens had a coop and the CX had a chicken tractor where they stayed at night. During the day we let them free range together. We really didn't have any issues. Occasionally the layers would peck the CX. Also the chickens seem to prefer the meat bird food so we would have to chase the hens away at feeding times, but that was not a big deal.
