They are 3.5 weeks old. Sally is feathering in a little faster in basic brown barred feathers. This one, Rosie, is feathering a little slower. I haven't seen feathers like hers on the forum. They go from bright silver to dark...very pretty.  Any early ideas on sex/adult color on Rosie?

This thread has been so helpful in sexing my chicks! Here are "the Littles" now. Rosie(right), at 7 weeks, has all the signs of a roo...comb, stance, legs, slow feathering, while Sally is much more hen like. They are such a cute couple, I have found a new home for both of them so they can stay together.

I'm thinking pullets all around, well, except #6, that red comb says roo to me, also, am I seeing three rows of peas there? I couldn't see legs on number six, are they thick? And, I believe I read somewhere a ways back on this bread that the black and white are usually Roos.

In any event, beautiful, healthy looking bunch.

Chicken stew, sweet story. Glad they get to stay together.

I'm guessing the pastel chick is a clean faced easter egger because I can't find any breeds on Meyer hatchery site that match her. I think it is a pullet, but her comb is different than the other EEs
I'll get comb pics tomorrow after work

Mother of 2 boys, wife to a wonderful man who stays at home while I work full time in the veterinary profession.
We have 3 dogs, 30 hens, 2 roosters: Buckeye, Partridge Rocks, Salmon Favs, Gold Comets, Easter Eggers, Austrolorp, hatchery RIR, New Hampshire, Jersey Giant, Dominique, mixed bantams, mixed LF
Sold several of our pullets, could not overwinter 26 additional birds!

Those are all girls and indeed EE's.

Illia, mine got missed at the top of page 69
could you venture a guess on these 5 babies. Proximately 5 weeks old. If you need closer pictures I will get some tomorrow.
I thought I had 3 girls and 2 boys, but today I think I may only have 1 girl, and I'm praying I'm wrong, I need pullets and these are the first 5 I ever tried hatching, I hate to think I will have to butcher 4 of them.W
Makes me so sad......... and they are so friendly and cute..awwwwwwwwwwww WHaaaaaa hit.gif
