What do you feed your turkeys?

Just started with turkeys, but the adults are doing great with Purina Flockraiser (20%) that the chickens, ducks, and guineas eat. (They love it, and it's only about a buck a bag more than Purina Layena. I do have to provide oyster shell grit separately, however.)

When the poults hatch, they'll be on the Game Bird Starter (30%) the quail eat.

The elevator I go to carries Prince Animal Feed 28% turkey starter. I buy that for the poults, otherwise they just graze like the chickens as a supplement to normal feed.

For our wild easterns

turkey starter for poults, with chick grit need or not we give some anyway
then around 6-7 weeks we switch to Game Bird flight conditioner
then 1 month before laying and during game bird layer
Game Bird Maintenance in the off season for mature birds.

treats
black oil sunflower and scratch, oyster shell supplement and grit

I started out with turkey grower(non medicated) that I blended into smaller pieces. It's organic with grains in it and only 22% protein so I added hard boiled egg daily and dried meal worms. They are 6 weeks old now and are no longer getting daily Hard boiled egg but still get the meal worms and also now get sunflower seed hearts mixed in with their feed. and they always have grit available.

Thank you so much for the info..the feed store we got them from supplied us with a 20% medicated chick starter (I see other people recommending 28%) I'm now learning about other feeds to supplement..so glad I found this site! I hope you don't mind more questions..how long should they be under a heat lamp? Wil they fly (I plan on having them out during the day and inside at night)if so do people clip their wings? If so, how? Thank you for tolerating my ignorance! (0:

If feeding 20%-22% feed, how much will 1 turkey eat per day? 1 cup?, 2 cup? 5 cups? Variable by age im sure so lets say at 4, 8, 14 and 20 weeks.

My poults are just babies right now. But when they get older, in non-laying season I will probably keep them on Flock Raiser, and during breeding season I will keep them on gamebird crumbles, or mix that with layer pellets.

Blessings -
